What is "Pack Night"?
"Pack Night" is the gathering of ALL our dens. Awards, advancements & recognitions are presented to those Cub Scouts who have earned them. In addition, announcements of upcoming events are promoted during this night. Activities as well as certain celebrations also happen during these nights.

What is a "Den" Meeting?
a Den Meeting" is when each scout meets with their own den. These dens work on projects that help work towards the Scouts Handbook requirements. Activities, Games, Crafts, Trips to name a few all happen with their dens.

What is the Cost to Join?
The cost is very affordable. It is broken down in three parts:
Registration: $35 for a new Scout, $30 for Returning Scouts
Pack Dues: $50
Den Dues: $40
(Den dues can be paid out in increments if you need to. See your den leader for more details)
TOTAL: $125 for new scouts per year, $120 for returning scouts per year.

Does a Parent Need to "Hang Around" During the Den Meetings?
At the Tiger Den Level, parents ARE required to stay in the den to assist and work closely with there Scout. The Tiger Den is a level in which the parents are extremely involved with the projects, planning and helping. It also allows your son to be nurtured into scouting and become self reliable when they go to the next den levels of scouting.

From the Wolf through Weblos 2 Den levels, it is highly suggested that parents and any siblings stay in an empty classroom with other parents or, drop their child off until the meetings end. It can be distracting to the Leaders to perform the den meeting, as well as not letting your son become more self-sufficient. Scouting is about "Being Prepared" and "Doing Your best". Younger Scouts have a tendency to rely on their parents when the parent stay in the den.

What is a Blue and Gold Celebration?
Our annual Blue & Gold Celebration celebrates the birthday of Scouting! All across the nation, scouts celebrate this event. All the scouts, leaders, parents, siblings and other family members attend. Advancements and awards are also given out during this event.

What is the Pine Wood Derby?
Dads... Grab your saw!!!! Dads LOVE this event (Handy Moms too!). In February, we gather for the biggest race of the year. Scouts start with a block of wood, and create a car they will race down a wooden track, racing against other scouts! Winners receive awards and can even make it into the district race that is at the Source Mall in Westbury!

Why Would I Volunteer? I Have Enough Things To Do In My Busy Schedule?
Not only does volunteering help the pack out, but it teaches your son what it means to help others. Helping others play a very big part of scouting. Our pack is quite large, and we can actually use all the help we can get! We NEVER have too many volunteers. You are there with your son anyway, so rather than standing in the back of the room waiting for the meetings or pack night to end, why not help? How about simply filling paper cups with juice for the scouts? That was easy, wasn't it? Do you like to decorate? How about being on the Blue & Gold Decorating Committee?

Ok, I Want To Volunteer to Help the Pack! How?
THANK YOU! You can start out here by printing out our
Family Talent Survey Sheet and hand it in to your Den leader or Cubmaster!

Where is The Scout Shop?
Please visit our Scout Shop link for more detailed information.

Where Do all those Cub Scout Patches Go on the uniform?
Please view this Uniform Patch PDF file that shows placement of all patches on a Scout Uniform.

Does My Son Always Need To Wear His Uniform?
YES! YES! YES! All scouts MUST wear their uniforms unless otherwise instructed to wear a "Class B" Shirt which is usually a pack related Scout T-Shirt. We wear "Class B" Shirts when working on a project or at an event that can or may ruin the Scout Uniform. otherwise, the uniform MUST be worn at den Meetings, Pack Nights and even outside scout gatherings.
The Uniform shows a sign of equality. No child will feel left out. The uniform send a message.... i am proud to be a scout. First of all, the boys LOVE to wear their uniform. They also earn the respect by wearing one. Just knock on a neighbors door when selling Cub scout popcorn, and you will see the neighbors big smile and motivating reactions!
Furthermore.... The scouts work hard in earning their advancements through the ranks. The uniform allows them to display and wear what they have earned prominently and can share with friends, family members and other scouts what they have earned.

Does my Son Really need a Cub Scout Cap?
A Cub Scout Cap completes the uniform. It is not required right away, but IS highly recommended. It is head protection for the scout while doing outside scout activities. Please note that we do not wear caps inside the Church or Parish Center, for it is disrespectful. The official Scout Cap does complete the uniform. A baseball cap just doesn't complete the scout uniform.

What if My Son Doesn't Earn His Badge Before the Blue and Gold Celebration?
In general, the Blue & Gold Celebration is not provided so a scout can earn his badges. Its a celebration od Scouting. It is always nice to be able to present the Scout his badge that he earned at the Blue & Gold, but it is not a necessity. The Scout has the entire year to earn his badge for rank.

How Does a Cub Scout Earn a Religious Medal?
Earning a Religious Medal is a very prestigious award. Along with earning a medal, a patch that looks like a Knot is also given. This Knot is the only patch that is allowed to be transferred from a Cub Scout Uniform to a Boy Scout Uniform. We have a Religious coordinator in our Pack. This person comes to our den and meets with the scouts and their parents to explain how to do you the workbook of your sons faith. the Boy Scouts of America recognizes all faiths. There is a religious workbook available for just about every religion. Please ask when attending this meeting.

My Son Has Special Needs or a Learning Disability. Can he still join?
The Boy Scouts of America has fully participating members with physical, mental, and emotional disabilities. It has also been recognized about the special needs of those with disabilities. Please talk to our Den Leaders or Cubmaster to see how your child can adapt to these environments and make scouting a part of his life.

What Happens After 5th Grade or Weblos level 2?
Off they go! TO BOY SCOUTING! Thats right! after they complete Weblos 2 Den level, The scout participates in a "Bridging Ceremony". This is when the Boy Scout Troop comes down and literally walks the scout over a small wooden bridge to meet the Boy Scouts on the other side! Your son now has reached the age for Boy Scouting. At the Weblos 2 Den Level, it is wise to meet and talk to TROOPS in your area with your son, to see which troop is best for him. A TROOP is Boy scouting, a PACK is Cub Scouting.
