ABOUT PACK 689

WHERE ARE WE LOCATED?
PACK 689 is charted by St. James Roman Catholic Church in Seaford NY. The Church is located at the corner of Seaman's Neck Rd. and Hicksville Rd. This charter supplies us with the facilities we need to conduct Cub Scouting.

MEETINGS
Our "Pack Nights" meet once a month located in the lower level of the St. James Parish Center. Our "Den Meetings" usually meet 3 - 4 times a month upstairs in the St. James Parish Center classrooms. Both the Pack Night and the Den meetings meet on Friday Evenings at 7:30 PM.

There are approximately 68 Scouts and proudly growing!! We run two open houses during the year. One in the spring time and one around the start of school. We welcome all boys from 1st grade through 5th grade.

Based on each Den size, a Den may have two Leaders to run a Den. We have a Cubmaster and Assistant Cub Masters who organize the Pack Nights and help keep all the Dens stay "In-Sync".

More importantly, its YOU, the parents who work with your son to advance through the rankings by helping him complete his Handbook. Its a fun and rewarding learning experience you gain while working with your son. You celebrate with him as he receives his awards, Badges and many other recognitions he rightfully deserved!

ALL RELIGIONS WELCOMED!
Many parents seem to think that because St. James Church charters our Pack, our boys must only be Catholic. This is NOT true! We simply run the meetings from here, using the church's facilities. We love using the classrooms! The den leaders get to use the blackboards and desks to make the den meetings run easier.

The recreation room that is downstairs allows us to hold such a large pack, play games, celebrate events and so on.

We do not discriminate. We have all kinds of faiths that belong to our pack. Because we are chartered with St. James, it allows us to do more community services, such as our annual food drive to help the needy. This is conducted through this church, but again, your religion does not play a role in this service. Its a "Good Turn" as we say in Cub Scouting. We respect ALL religions and welcome ALL boys.
